"A minivan carrying four Calvert County teenagers to school collided with a box truck yesterday morning, killing the van's 17-year-old driver and critically injuring her 14-year-old brother, authorities said. Two other passengers in the minivan, a 2000 Dodge Caravan, were seriously injured. The students were driving to Northern High School when the collision occurred shortly after 7 a.m., Maryland State Police said. Police said the driver of the minivan, Alyson M. Purvis, was apparently attempting to turn left from Briscoes Turn Road into the northbound lane of Route 4, a busy thoroughfare that has two lanes in each direction and is separated by a grass median for long stretches.
The minivan crossed in front of the southbound path of the 2005 Isuzu box truck, authorities said. The truck driver swerved to try to avoid the minivan but ended up striking it on the driver's side, state police said.
Officials identified the minivan driver as Purvis, of Chesapeake Beach, and said her brother, Ryan J. Purvis, was taken by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was later reported to be in critical condition. Their mother has worked as a substitute teacher for the county's public schools, officials said. Authorities identified the minivan's other passengers as Kathryn M. Singleton, 17, and Marina M. Ybarra, 16, also of Chesapeake Beach. They were taken by helicopter to Prince George's Hospital Center, where they were reported in serious but stable condition.
Lt. Homer Rich, commander of the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick barracks, said the commercial truck driver doesn't appear to have been speeding and is not expected to be charged. He and his two passengers received minor injuries when the truck overturned after striking the minivan. Both the truck and minivan came to rest in the grass median.
Route 4 south was closed until 11:40 a.m. because of the wreck, with traffic routed into the northbound lanes, authorities said."

These videos are in memory of Alyson Michelle Purvis.

May you rest in peace Alyson where you are now.
If you saw this on my card thing before it was deleted then you must be wondering why I deleted the card and why I'm doing this. One.....no one commited to doing it so far. Also the main reason is because the Purvis family themselves. I got news from my mom on Friday that a cheerleader on my sister's team said that Ryan had died that day. Of course I didn't believe it cause people had already spread rumors of him already dieing but it wasn't true. Then today I was watching the news on another teen car accident, the fourth one this week or two in just the local county of Maryland with Alyson's crash being the second.
Going back to Ryan's condition....sadly that little cheerleader was right. Ryan died Friday to join his sister Alyson. I realized the truth I didn't belive when I was watching that news segment. They covered the background of all the teen car accidents that had happend this last week and when they covered Alyson's and Ryan's crash the declared that Ryan died on Friday.
I feel so horrible now. I'll go into school tomorrow and probably see people with red and puffy eyes. I know a lot of people in some of my classes that knew Ryan as a friend and my Lang.A's teacher, Ms. Sanner, loved him as well. If she was in tears at Alyson's death and Ryan's condition then I'm afriad of how she'll battle this. She's never had anyone close to her in her family or friends that had died before Alyson's departation. Everyday the past week she would give us an update on Ryan and his surgery's.
Thinking about this mornings crash brought me thinking. Teens with the privilage of driving shouldn't drive carelessly. The crash that took place today happened at 2 am and a 17 year old boy died while three 15 year olds made it out alive. So people that are able to drive please be careful. I don't anyone of ya'll to die.
